The Caleb Corner
We welcome newly trained Caleb
Volunteers, Jackie Gilbert, from Bethlehem, and Mary Dodge, from Lancaster. We
thank them for their willingness to help others in our communities. The training
course includes subjects dealing with confidentiality, the services that the
volunteer wants to provide, emergency and infection control guidelines, and
guidelines on working with disabled and elderly.
Building Community – One Spirit At A
Time
The Caleb Group is ALWAYS looking for volunteers to join our organization. There are many opportunities available, and consideration of the volunteer’s busy schedule is taken into consideration when arranging appointments. For more information about being assisted, volunteering, or contributing, please contact The Caleb Group at 837-9179, email us at www.caleb@ncia.net, or stop by the office, which is located at Highland House, 30 Highland Street in Whitefield. Information may also be obtained from the Caleb Group website at www.caleb-interfaith.org.
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program delivery will be on Thursday, July 24. Highland House delivery, in Whitefield, is at 9:30 a.m. All Saints Church delivery, in Lancaster, is at 12:00 p.m. The CSFP provides fruit, vegetables, meat, cheese, and other nutritious food to senior citizens 60 years of age or older. New participants will need to provide proof of income, proof of residency (Whitefield, Dalton, Lancaster, Jefferson, or Twin Mountain) and proof of age. Please call the Caleb Group office at 837-9179 for information.
Neighbors helping
Neighbors
During the month of May Caleb Volunteers donated 233 hours and drove 2,404 miles to help older adults in their communities. We want to thank all of our volunteers for their commitment and service to their older neighbors. June was just as busy with 48 medical transports to various facilities in the area. Another busy project is the Caleb Pet Food Project which provides pet food to elders who need the assistance. Since the project started in September 2002, Caleb Volunteers have distributed over 3000 pounds of food, litter, and bird seed to very thankful pets and their owners.
Caleb
Group Raffle
Once again, Steve Penney, our friendly woodcarver from Ossipee, New Hampshire, has provided The Caleb Group with a beautiful two-foot wood-carved bear to be raffled off on December 18. The two other prizes are a hand-painted Santa Tavern Sign, painted and donated by Celeste Pitts of Lancaster, and a gift certificate for a gallon of Christie’s Maple Syrup, donated by Colin Christie of Lancaster. Raffle tickets are available at the Caleb Group office, in Whitefield, Parker’s Jewelry Store, in Lancaster, Aprel Ann's Gift Shop, in Littleton, and at Zelda's Jams and Jellies booths in the area. If you would like to check out the bear in person, he is making an appearance at Aprel Ann's Gift shop this month!
