Caleb Corner
The Caleb Group Volunteer Recognition Luncheon was held on
September 17 at the Cabot Motor Inn, in Lancaster. Sixty-five Caleb Volunteers,
their families and friends, enjoyed a delicious hot lunch buffet. Barb Todd provided delightful flute
music during the luncheon. Special guests in attendance were Warren and Joan
Sawyer, the founders of The Caleb Foundation, from Swampscott, MA; Heidi
Sawyer-Cann, Director of Development for The Caleb Foundation, also of
Swampscott; Roxie Severance, founder of The Caleb Interfaith Group and former
director; Nancy Vincent, of the Coos County RSVP, and Meredith Walker, Manager
of The Highland House, in Whitefield. The volunteers each received a certificate
of appreciation, a volunteer pin, and a small bag filled with Hershey Hugs and
Kisses with a note that said, “You deserve some hugs and kisses! Your commitment
to caring never misses. For your eagerness to lend a hand, we have to say you’re
simply grand! You’ve earned this special thank you treat for being someone extra
sweet!” Volunteer Zelda Gonyer gave
everyone a jar of her delicious Spiced Pumpkin Butter. The two grand prize
winners were Betty Hunt and Pricilla Trucheon, both of Lancaster. Each volunteer
had his or her name drawn for prizes that were donated by Wal*Mart, Price Mart,
Eleanor Brauns, and Bobbie Gaudes. Thank you to all who helped to make this day
very special for the volunteers.
