Caleb Corner

   Friendly Visits

One of the services that Caleb Volunteers provide is visiting care receivers to provide companionship and ease their loneliness. Many of the Caleb Volunteers visit their elderly neighbors on a weekly basis, and have made new friends in the process. The volunteers report to us that they thoroughly enjoy their visits with their elderly neighbors. They didn’t realize how much satisfaction that they would get from doing such a simple act of kindness. From January through June of 2003, our wonderful volunteers have provided 421 hours of visiting and telephone reassurance to those in need of this service.

 Neighbors helping Neighbors

The Caleb Group coordinated the distribution of commodity supplemental food this month in Whitefield and Lancaster areas. We thank volunteers Wayne Switser, of Dalton, Carl Rod of Jefferson, Stan Johnson of Whitefield, and our North Country Ford Volunteers from Lancaster-Keith, Mike and Alex Kopp, who helped to deliver 128 boxes of food to elders who are unable to pick the food up on their own. The next commodity food distribution will be on September 25, 2003.

 For the Birds!

Margaret Corey, of Whitefield, donated a beautiful, large birdcage to The Caleb Group.  If there is an older adult out there in the community that is thinking about purchasing a bird for a pet, please give The Caleb Group a call.  Have we got a birdcage for you!!

 Mark your Calendar!

The Caleb Generation-to-Generation Walk-a-thon will be held on September 20, starting with registration at 9:00, and the walk at 9:30 (rain or shine) on the Common in Whitefield.  We appreciate all those who have participated in this “fun” fundraiser in the past, and hope for your continued support.

Building Community – One Spirit at Time

We welcome David Glover of Whitefield as a new member of the Caleb Group Advisory Board. The Advisory Board would welcome new members from the towns of Bethlehem, Dalton, Groveton and Littleton.
