Look Back at 2002
The past year, 2002, Caleb Interfaith Volunteers gave over 4,400 hours and over 35,000 miles. Dedicated individuals gave their time to help over 211 Senior Citizens in the eight towns that the Caleb Group serves. These services include visiting, transportation, shopping, reassurance phone calls, paperwork, chores, and light housekeeping. Caleb Volunteers transported elders to a total of 374 medical appointments, which included 27 trips to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. The Caleb Group would not be here without the devotion of these caring volunteers, and they are appreciated more than words can say.
The Caleb Pet Food Project has been successful since it’s start. During the first three months of the project, 850 pounds of pet food was distributed to area elders.
Kristi Gilfillan, owner of the Bow-Wow Haus in Littleton, read about our Pet Food Project and called to offer services for elderly pet owners. Kristi will pick up and deliver small to medium pets for grooming at her shop. For more information please call Kristi at 444-7191.
The Caleb Group coordinated the distribution of commodity supplemental food this month. Volunteers Wayne Switser, Bob Herman, Ken and Clarice Jordan, and John and Paul from North Country Ford delivered 114 boxes of food to elders who are unable to pick the food up on their own. The next commodity food distribution will be on March 27, 2003 at 9:30 at the Highland House, and at All Saints Church at 12:30.
The Computer Lab has been bustling with people interested in learning new and exciting computer tasks. Caleb Volunteer and Computer Lab Instructor, Ernie Angelicola, makes learning easy and fun. The lessons are held on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 to 12:00 at the Computer Lab at Highland House or by appointment. Please call the Caleb Office at 837-9179 for more information.
