The Caleb Corner

 Commodity Food

The Caleb Group and the Community Action Program of Belkap-Merrimack Counties team up every other month to distribute Commodity Supplemental Foods to Whitefield, Dalton, Jefferson, Lancaster and Twin Mountain areas.  Last month over 200 boxes of food were distributed to area seniors, and Caleb Volunteers delivered 56 of those boxes to carereceivers homes.

 Generation to Generation Walk-a-thon

The Generation to Generation Walk-a-thon was very successful, with $2,500 being raised to help the Caleb Interfaith Program. Robbie Garneau of Dalton was the winner of the youth prize, a Mamba Style-Gary Fisher Mountain Bike, for bringing in the most pledges.  The adult prizes were given to The Quigley Family of Whitefield, who received two passes for the Cog Railway, and Candy Black of Whitefield received dinner for two at the Cabot Motor Inn.  Thanks to EVERYONE who came out to walk for our area seniors.  The tee-shirt sponsors this year were: Ingerson Transportation, of Jefferson; Whitefield Banking Station, Avon Collectibles and Presby Plastics, Inc. all of Whitefield; Kilkenny Building Center, Marshall Insurance Agency, North Country Ford, KC’s Meadow Kennel, Sullivan Drug Store, and Germain’s Satellite all of Lancaster; Littleton Coin Company, Bear Images, Stiles Fuel and Ross Funeral Home of Littleton; and Monroe’s Family Restaurant of Twin Mountain. We appreciate all of the sponsors, and also those who donated prizes for the walk-a-thon.  The Caleb Foundation has a motto, “Building Community – One Spirit at a Time,” and the people here in the North Country exemplify this by their dedication and continued support of volunteer programs.

 Caleb Interfaith Fall Concert

A concert will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2002 at 3:00, at the Christ United Methodist Church in Lancaster, New Hampshire to benefit The Caleb Group Interfaith Volunteer Program.  The concert will feature many local instrumentalists and vocalists.  The North Country Harmonizers will be singing two original compositions by Ben Stabley, of Gilman.  Also included in the program will be flute, piano, and guitar duets. “The concert program includes patriotic and inspirational music. I guarantee that everyone attending will leave with a song in their heart,” said Concert Coordinator, Myra Emerson, of Lancaster.  The free-will offering will help to support the Caleb Interfaith Caregiver’s mission, which is to provide services to the elderly of our area to help them remain “independent as possible for as long as possible.”

Volunteers Needed

We are always in need of new volunteers, and especially at this time of the year when our “Snow Bird” Volunteers will be leaving the area for warmer weather.  Caleb Interfaith volunteers currently help over 200 elders from Littleton to Groveton. Everyday elders receive friendly visits, phone calls, chore services, and transportation from Caleb Volunteers. For more information on becoming a part of the Caleb Interfaith Volunteer Program, please call the Caleb Interfaith office at 837-9179.
