Caleb Corner

By Julie Hall, Volunteer Coordinator

 Neighbors helping Neighbors

Caleb volunteers have been busy this past month giving 260 hours of volunteer service to their elderly neighbors.  There are still elders on our waiting list that would love to have a visitor. It just takes one hour a week to make a huge difference in the life of an elderly person.  If you think you might enjoy visiting, or just have questions about our program, please give us a call at 603-837-9179.

Generation to Generation Walk-a-thon

”Walking Today for Elders who have Walked Before”

The Caleb Generation-to-Generation Walk-a-thon will be held on September 20, starting with registration at 9:00 am, and the walk at 9:30 am (rain or shine) on the Whitefield Common. The 1.5-mile walk will start and end at the common. The pledge sheets are available at the Caleb Office at 30 Highland Street in Whitefield, or by calling the office at 837-9179.  The grand prize for the most pledges from a child (up to 18) is a Specialized Hardrock Mountain Bike furnished by Littleton Bike Shop. The grand prize for the most pledges from an adult is Dinner for Two at a local restaurant. Many other prizes will be given, and the first hundred participants will receive a t-shirt. Jingles the Clown will be on the common to hand out balloons. The WOW van will also be there, to do blood pressure screenings, before and after the event.  Join the fun to help benefit our elderly neighbors.

Building Community – One Spirit at a Time

We welcome Donald Pelletier, as a new Caleb Volunteer from Littleton. As always, The Caleb Group is always looking for new volunteers. We are currently looking for volunteers to help out with transportation in the Lancaster and Groveton areas.

 The Caleb Bear

The Caleb Raffle is underway with the wood-carved bear as first place prize, second place is a hand-painted tavern sign, and third place is a gallon of Christie’s Maple Syrup. One may see the Caleb Bear at the Lancaster Fair at Zelda’s Jam and Jelly stand. Stop by her booth and say “Hi” and take a chance on the bear!  All proceeds benefit The Caleb Group.
