The Caleb Corner
By Julie Hall
Caleb Volunteers were very active in the month of July
logging in 333 hours and 3730 miles. Wow!
The transportation included 30 trips to medical appointments, 4 trips to
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and 1 trip to the Veteran’s Hospital in
White River Junction. Many hours were also spent visiting, grocery shopping,
chores, and reassurance phone calls. A big thanks to all of the dedicated
volunteers who give so much to help the elders in our
communities.
We would like to welcome our new Caleb Volunteers; Larry and
Carol Tebo, of Dalton, and Jean Taylor of Whitefield. Larry and Carol have
experienced volunteerism at Habitat for Humanity, the Nashua Soup Kitchen and
disaster relief work.
September 28 the annual “Generation to
Generation” Caleb Walk-a-Thon will be held, starting at the Whitefield
Common. Sponsor sheets are available at the Caleb Group office, at your local
stores and libraries, or you can register between 9:00 and 9:30 on the day of
the walk. Participants who bring in
$15.00 or more in pledges will receive a free t-shirt. An adult and youth prize
will be given for the most amounts of pledges. There are many other prizes that
will be drawn at random.
October 13 a Caleb Concert will be held at the Christ
United Methodist Church in Lancaster.
The concert will feature many local musicians.
November 17 the 7th Annual Caleb Holiday
Preview will be held at the Mountain View Grand Ball Room. This event will
feature a silent and live auction consisting of fine crafts, baked goods, fresh
wreaths, needlework, gift baskets, and many other great items. You can do your
holiday shopping while helping to support the Caleb Group.
December 18 the drawing will be held, at the Highland
House, for the Caleb Group Raffle. Once again this year, the first prize is a 2
foot Wood Carved Bear, carved by Steve Penney of West Ossipee. Watch for the
Caleb Bear to appear in your town! The second prize is a Hand-painted 14” Wooden
Sled with Snowman Motif, painted by Celeste Pitts of Lancaster, and third prize
is a gift certificate for a gallon of Christie Maple Syrup.
